Making your repairs simpler, packaged CANADER™ is available in most areas
As part of a $150 million government study, Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) evaluated the performance of various asphalt patching materials and techniques at 22 sites across the United States. Over 1200 pothole patches were placed and studied.
As shown below, these studies found that high performance cold mix patches were over three times more cost effective than cold mix-throw and go repairs. In our years of experience of repairing potholes in tough Canadian weather, CANADER™ has proven to be clearly superior to any other high performance cold mix on the market.
Based on proven repair life of over 30 months (that’s 30 tough Canadian months). CANADER™ is over seven times more cost effective than regular cold mix. The extended outdoor storage life of CANADER™, along with the ability to repair potholes in any weather, hot or cold, wet or dry, makes CANADER™ clearly the bitumen repair material of choice.
SHRP Focus Newsletter quoted “Use the best materials possible. You might save money by purchasing a poorer quality material, but those savings will be quicklye eaten up by the cost of patching the same potholes over and over.”

All potholes are not created equal. Use common sense to adjust the following procedures to accommodate field conditions. Preparation and compaction are the key ingredients to a successful CANADER™ repair. The better you prepare and compact, the better CANADER™ will perform.
Remove any loose stones, gravel, sand, etc. from the sides and bottom of the hole. If possible, try to provide a clean 25-37 mm vertical edge for binding. Loose fabric often applied between asphalt layers should be cut back to the edge of the pothole to provide as much binding surface as possible. CANADER™, like hot asphalt, will best adhere to a strong, clean surface. If the pothole is deep enough to be into the road base, compact any loose material with a hand or plate tamper. If the hole extends into a sand or gravel shoulder, provide a 25-37 mm vertical edge in the shoulder to hold the CANADER™.
For a hole 25-75 mm deep, shovel in a sufficient amount of CANADER™ to fill the hole approximately 12 mm above the road surface to allow for secondary compaction. If the repair is deeper than 25-75 mm, then place in 50 mm lifts, compacting each layer, as is the common practice for a conventional hot mix repair.
